it depends where on the left side. If it near his stomach, may be an ulcer, or spleen. If it is his arm, could be his heart, or shoulder. Sharp pains persistant usually is your body telling you something is not working correctly. There is a new invention called a doctor, whom is trained to diagnosos. Better safe than sorry....

Sometimes sharp pains in the left side are a warning sign of heart attack. Don't want to scare you, it could be so many things. Take him to the doctor to get it checked out right away. www.mayoclinic.com is helpful to self diagnose, but still take him to the doctor!
