What are you calling "transgendered?" Are you referring to those with the birth defect of transsexualism, or are you talking about transgender behaviors that do not stem from a need for surgery?
On transsexuals, I don't know what is sick. A person was born with a female brain and a male body, and they seek to make the two match. Now, by a female brain, I am referring to actual neuronal connections, not something worked up from years of habitual practice. Such hard-wiring cannot be changed through talk therapy, brainwash, medications, etc.
As an example of inborn behavior, I remember reading about a 4-year-old that acted genuinely like a girl. This child was not taught this since the family were all bigots. I am sure tv watching was limited since the parents sounded like control freaks and perfectionists. Well, they threw the 4-year-old out of the house and had the child committed. At the hospital, they abused this kid by giving them years of shock treatments. Every time there was a girly thought or action, the child was given electroconvulsive therapy, experimental drugs, or whatever they wanted to do to this child. By about age 20 or so, the patient figured out why they were there and escaped. They went on to become a performer, get all the surgeries, and live a normal life. However, she is affected thanks to her parents. She stutters and acts like she has brain damage. Her parents could have simply raised her as a normal girl and helped her get the corrective surgery and all. But they had to have their bigoted ways.
The Bible says to train up the child they way they are to go. That does not mean to impose you will upon them. If you study the original, it means to raise the child according to how God already made them. So you take the natural and existing personality, encourage it, and guide it. It is about following a preset pattern from God for the child, not creating a pattern that may be wrong and imposing it.
Anyway, it is impossible to make a female brain that was truly inborn to be feminine into a male one. So what does that leave? It leaves fixing the body and moving on with life as if you never had this problem. That is all. There are NO sexual motives behind being a true-transsexual, it is just a matter of fixing the body and moving on with life.
Unfortuneately, many transgendered persons lie and call themselves transsexuals and do so while living perverted and fetishistic lifestyles. They are not transsexuals, but the average person does not know the difference, and the fakes give all true-TSs a bad name. Then ordinary people jump on the case of transsexuals because they assume them to be fetishists, transgenderists, crossdressers, etc. I feel for them in their sentiments, but their anger is misguided and directed at people who are just as much the victims of having to put up with sick people.
What angers me is that people who discover I am a transsexual woman have all these little notions and stereotypes about me, when I am simply not much different than born women in my beliefs and behavior. If anything, I am more Conservative than a lot of genetically born women. But people have these stereotypes. People are usually surprised when I tell them I am Baptist and vote Republican. Afterall, TSs are supposed to be Democrats and anything but Baptist, right? Despite the popular notions, there are no contradictions between having the birth defect of transsexualism and being a Conservative, Christian, fundamentalist, non-sexual, a decent person, or even anti-gay like a good chunk of "normal" people. It is possible to have a birth defect of the sex organs and oppose some unrelated alternative lifestyle, and there be no contradiction. But the stereotypes are degrading and hold true-TSs back. Someone once assumed I would appreciate some TG porn. Guess what I did? I threw the magazines away, and they were expensive ones. There are people who approach me for sex and assume that because I am a TS, I am easy. I've turned down every single one of them. Oh, and lastly, the "transsexuals" on Jerry Springer are not really transsexuals at all. Some are gay/TG rather than TSs, and others are paid ACTORS. Jerry goes out of his way to destroy the lives of true-TSs by lying and calling every crossdressed pervert that comes down the pipe a transsexual.

If you do not know thing and you want a serious answer then don't be so quick to be prejudiced against other people for things that they feel comfortable with, that you have not taken the time to understand, and from the phrasing of you so-called question, you do not want to understand, or you would not pre-judge other people for who they are when you pretend to actually be interested in a truth full answer, but you phasing say quite clearly that you are a bigot against things that you do not understand, nor do you want to actually take the time to understand. So maybe when you stop being so prejudiced against other people, you may actually decide to open your mind to understand others in the lives that they lead, and go to the library and get a book, or come back to this site, and come with an open mind, and not bigotry.

Not only did you just insult a whole community, but you insulted the people that support them, and their G/F's, B/F's, wives, and husbands!
And yes, I am one of the G/F's of a transgendered....
lets put your mind in the opposite sex's body and see how you feel about not being able to fully be who you are because your body denies it! Your VERY own body! I bet you'd feel pretty betrayed and disgusted at it.....

What the hell is going on today? People are having the courage to be themselves, and the world's ready enough for it that a "whopping" 11 out of 12 won't be killed because of it. Just because your genitalia are fortunate enough to match what your mind thinks you should have and just because you're relatively happy with the social role of your sex is absolutely no reason to suppose that everyone ought to be.
It is not in any way sick. What's sick is people who want to proscribe what others should be like.

Gee I don't know. Perhaps they just decided, as a lark, to spend about $100,000 to change their gender, to go through years of ostracizm by jerks, such as yourself, to undergo death threats, and physical attacks.
Perhaps if you actually had a brain rather than substituting prejudice, you'd see there was more here than just the inside of your colon.

Maybe sick to you, but for me it's been a wonderful life long journey. I get to be my kids dad and wife's husband most of the time, but I also get to be marlyn monroe, anne margret or betty paige. I get to wear jeans and sneakers or corsets and maids uniforms. I love to play basketball, golf and tennis (and I'd likely kick the crap out of 90% of the bigoted guys comments on this question) and I also love to put on makeup, do my nails and let my lover tie me up in bondage. From the way I see it, I get the best of both worlds.
