"Somewhere in Time" starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.
This is my favorite romantic movie - although there are a lot of them that are great.
This movie involves time travel, and the only "old people" characters are one of the main characters when we first meet her for a few short moments. The next time you see her, it's back in time and she's young again...so you don't have to worry too much about "old people" in this movie.
Here's the plot synopsis from imdb.com:
Young writer Richard Collier is met on the opening night of his first play by an old lady who begs him to "Come back to me". Mystified, he tries to find out about her, and learns that she is a famous stage actress from the early 1900s, Elise McKenna. Becoming more and more obsessed with her, he manages, by self hypnosis, to travel back in time where he meets her. They fall in love, a matching that is not appreciated by her manager. Can their love outlast the immense problems caused by their "time" difference? And can Richard remain in a time that is not his?

Pride and Prejudice!! The newest one with Keira Knightly and Matthew Mcfayden is breathtaking. Jane Austen was a brilliant and realistic romantic author. The movie is as close to the book as possible, and is MUCH shorter than the 8 hour BBC version. The chemistry and passion in that movie are unmatchable, in my opionion.
Another excellent romantic movie is Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. It is unlike any other movie I have ever seen as far as the plot goes, and it is very sweet and sentimental while adressing several of today's biggest issues like artificial life.
Hope this helps!

Braveheart is the most romantic movie ever! WAIT, don't stop reading. At least give me time to Explain.
William Wallace wanted nothing more to be with his wife and raise little Wallace's. He was an educated man that loved his wife more than anything. So much so to marry her in secret.
She gets killed, he kills them, and then dies for her. Now tell me, how is that not the GREATEST ROMANTIC MOVIE?
