have to mail an important letter and wondering if I drop it outside the PO at the box will it get picked up today?

All Postal employees have today off due to MLK Day. But they do start up again for 3rd shift so your best bet is take it to the Post Office and place it in one of their inside boxes this way they get it first thing in the early AM. I've had the same issue before and by doing this my letter made it on time.

Nope. No mail on MLK day. The kids didn't have school either.
I'd drop it off at the post office.

There are people at the post office on holidays but I only think the mail is picked up once during the day so it's probably too late now.

the post office is closed again today. bring it to the post office and put it into the box there, this way they will get it faster.
