What is the total number of points equidistant from two intersecting lines and 2 centimeters from the point of intersection?

It is four.

First part, the points equidistant from the two intersecting lines. Think of them as making an X. A line drawn across the X and another up and down the X, like laying a + sign on it, are made up of points which are all equidistant from the two lines.

Then the part about being 2cm from the point of intersection. As if you haven't overlayed enough lines already (!), draw a circle with a radius of 2cm and centered on the point of intersection. Those are all the points that are 2cm from the point of intersection.

The four places that circle and the lines of the "+" intersect are the four points satisfying the conditions.

4.

The set of points 2cm from the point of intersection is an infinite set of points forming a circle of radius 2cm centered on the point of intersection.

The set of points equidistant from two intersecting lines is an infinite set of points forming 2 lines that passes through the point of intersection and bisect the angles formed by the intersecting lines.

Those two lines intersect the circle at 4 points.

draw the intersecting lines BLUE ... next draw RED lines bisectiing the angles of intersection.

next draw a GREEN circle of radius 2.

those points where RED lines and GREEN circles cross are the set of points in question.

The GREEN circle intersects each RED line twice.

2 + 2 = 4

It has to be on the circle mentioned above, but on the pair of angle bisectors of the two lines. So 4 indeed.

If the strains are immediately: All of those. (Chris - so there is not any curved line? Sorry, English is my third language, in German a "Linie" is mostly a "Kurve" yet in English a "line" won't be able to be a "curve"?)
