Drs will avoid doing anything to your cervix except to look at it (not until the last month or two) because they don't want to introduce infection. After the initial pap, they shouldn't have to do anything internal until they do a Group B Strep test at around 36 weeks unless you have complications such as bleeding, in which case they may take a peek to see if you're dilating too early or something.

It's normal. relax now. When it comes to the end and they start doing manual checks (or when you're in early labor and they do manual checks) it really really hurts, so enjoy this time before they're poking you again! Plus for the Group B strep they have to poke you in the bum, and that's just no fun either!

Not normally. Towards the end of your pregnancy, they will do a test for Group B Strep. My doctor used "the duck" but it wasn't a pap smear, just a quick swab. When you switch to your weekly appts. the doctor will start doing exams for his fingers to see if you're dialating. But I don't think they will do anymore pap smears, until after you have the baby. My doctor didn't, but then again every doctor is different.

You are supposed to have a pap smear once a year, so if you have already had your pap smear at your first appointment (which is typcial) you won't need one again until the same time next year.

My doctor did one at the first appointment and that was it. Then he didn't check anything inside me until it was time to see if I was dilated. But only the one pap smear.

They will only do a pap on your first visit. Unless it came back abnormal they won't do another one until your six week post partum visit.

Yeah, you only get one at your first appointment, as long as it came back normal.
