this isn't exactly easy to explain over the internet but ill give it a try.
1)take your number(.5313131...) and multiply it so you have one of every number to the left of the decimal(.53131..*1000)= 531.3131...
2)now that number is equal to 1000x(531.31=1000x).
3)not do the same, except get only the repeating part to the right side of the decimal(5.3131...). multiply by 10x
4)that now makes this equation(5.3131=10x)
5)take the 531.31 equation ans subtract the .53131 equation from it(531.31...-5.3131...=526) and (1000x-10x=990x)
6)now your equation looks like this (526=990x)
7)solve for x by dividing by 990 to get (526/990) or (263/495) simplified
