There are plenty of americans that you have asked. They are the men and women who are fighting in Iraq and the middle east, in Asia especially in South Korea and Japan. They are the ones out in the battle fields, and those who are in training commands as we speak training to defend their country. They are the men and women who support the troops no matter what the country has gone through. THey are the ones who send care packages, letters of encouragment and thanks. They are the parents of the soldiers, the victims of any terrorist attacks, the family members of loved ones who have died in battle or fighting for a cause. They are the children who dream of becoming a doctor or a lawyer or the next president who will make mommy and daddy the queen and king of the world. THey are the children who dream of becoming firemens. they are the teachers who persuade and push children to their imaginations, to their full benefits.
They are the people who make a differenc.e No matter how big or small.

There are two of us right here---you and me!! Hopefully the 'Dumbing down of America' will fade out-- teachers will start teaching about our country without making the classrooms a soapbox for their radical, liberal views, the media will go back to reporting the 'NEWS', people won't be ashamed to admit that hearing our National Anthem or Lee Greenwoods, God Bless The USA always puts tears in their eyes and a lump in their throats because they haven't forgotten why we live in the greatest country in the world, our government will figure out that we will no longer accept 'Politics As Usual' and if their only concern is which party is in control and don't start doing the job they were elected to do---TOGETHER, they can just pack it up and head on home!! When some of these people start thinking for themselves and realizing they are being spoon fed a bunch of liberal garbage from 'TALKING HEADS' then things will start to turn around and sanity will return. Just keep your chin up. There are signs of it happening now. We elected a man as President with morals and the guts to take on the most thankless, necessary job in the world, (if we want a civilized world for our future generations to be born into), not once but TWICE!!! and women are going back to those spike heels with pointed toes that ruined the feet of the girls back when I was a teenager!!! (a little piece of history that wasn't learned from, I guess) But take heart. There's a bunch of us out here. We are just gathering our own info and remembering to research and think before we talk.

You are assuming they ex hist. Most honest and decent folks can't abide politics,
Part of the problem is that if a person makes a mistake at a young age, it will follow them forever in Politics. Joe Biden plagiarized a paper in college and for the last 30 years he has been haunted by that. He is a fine, smart man with that blemish attached to him. OH! that we all lived such clean lives.

Look at your friend. Talk to your neighbor. They are everywhere around you. Unfortunately, as a rule, they are not in the position of power. It costs a lot of money to run any campaign. Consequently, those who are elected are not necessarily the best. In the majority of the cases they are those who have enough money to one way or another pay for their campaigns. Higher the position, higher the expenditures.

The few good and honest people all reach a critical stage in their political careers, when they suddenly realise that good and honest people don't get to the top of the tree.
To reach the top, you have to sell out to corporate interests, military interests, the religious right, etc, etc.
It's a sad reflection on capitalism.

lol - a lot of them are here in Canada!
seriously!
- here in Vancouver, our previous city council (a very progressive group who got pushed out by an underhanded cabal of greedy developer types) was more than half US ex-pats / draft dodgers..
- and then there's the late Jane Jacobs - renowned
and extremely influential urbanologist, who spent the last three decade in Canada because she did not want her sons to die in some Vietnam..

Right here. But I'll never get elected. People don't want the truth, they live in TV land where every problem is solved in 30 minutes and the good guys never die.
