How are Welshmen thought of in Great Britiain?

Recently while in GB-I heard some derogatory remarks toward Welsh people.

2. However you may have offended them and us. Great Britain is celebrating its 300th birthday this year. Great Britain is the union of England & Wales with Scotland. So Wales is just as integral to Great Britain as are the other two constituent countries. The Welsh are not English, but they are British.
