The only known statue of Till in the world exists at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission and Cultural Center in Pueblo, CO. First unveiled at Denver's City Park in 1976, the statue was later moved to Pueblo in 2002.
It features a likeness of a robed Dr. King with his arm around Till, "stepping out in faith after they've fought the good fight and finished their course," said Ruth Steele, the center's executive director.
The statue, according to Steele, also includes one of Till's original hats and a pair of his tennis shoes that were donated by Till Mobley to the statue's sculptor, Ed Rose.

Emmett Till's legacy 50 years later
Jet, Sept 19, 2005 by Margena A. Christian
His death changed the course of history and shaped a nation. And today, some 50 years after the brutal lynching of Emmett Louis Till, the teen from Chicago has a legacy that will forever be etched in history.
In Pueblo, CO, stands the only known national monument in Till's honor, and in Mississippi two counties where he was abducted and murdered have renamed a highway after him.
Till, 14, left Chicago with his older cousin, Wheeler Parker, 16, to visit his uncle's house in Money, MS, in 1955.
One afternoon at a local store Till allegedly whistled at a White woman. Days later the teen was kidnapped from his uncle's house and killed. His horribly disfigured nude body was then dumped in the Tallahatchie River.
When his mother, Mamie Till Mobley, insisted on a public viewing of her son's bloated and severely tortured body, it forced the nation to confront the horrors of racism (JET, Sept. 15, 1955).

I guess those of us who have read a lot about the Civil Rights Movement do.
There's a fairly famous picture of his mother grieving--you can really see the pain in her face. I always wondered how the people who were on the fence about the whole Civil Rights issue could stay on the fence after seeing that woman's pain...
