After making 'House of 1000 corpses', I'm really surprised anyone would let him near a videocamera again.

I don't think it needs a remake but it's inevitable that it was going to happen given the success of remakes of Texas Chainsaw, Hills Have Eyes et al.
I think he could do an interesting job because the characters in Devil's Rejects were pretty much evil for the sake of being evil - no underlying moral justification was in the 2 films.
Unfortunately the fact that many people won't watch movies that are made before 2000 justifys the case for remakes in the eyes of movie producers
BTW I personally think Carpenter's original is one of the best horror films ever made

I do get a bit angry sometimes that most movies now are remakes of great older films. I personally love the old Hollywood movies (50s-early 70s) because those movies were of such great quality that could rarely be surpassed. Remakes are inevitable though, seeing as ideas eventually run out. But how many times can you remake something? Will it become remake of remake of original? O I hope not...remakes usually don't even compete with the originals.

I am not a fan of the original Halloween or the entire series, but i absolutely loved House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. So, I am hoping that Rob will breathe some life into a fairly boring and predictabel movie.

Why ? Greed. They want to make money but they don't have an good idea for a new movie. So use the classic as a promotional scheme to draw you into watchin it. That is to make money off you.
I don't recall any remakes that actually better than the originals.

I totally agree, I have never seen a remake that I liked. The same with music, it drives me nuts when they ruin a perfectly good song by making a Disney Channel star sing it!

I think it will suck...even tho I like Rob Zombie. I think that people remake classics because they can't come up with their own ideas. It pisses me off that they keep remaking good 'ol classics. I think it should be against the law.

I think it would be interesting BECAUSE there'll be more blood and guts... 'Tho I agree that it's pretty lame for people to re-make, rather than create. And, for the person who said that "Everyone" is doing remakes INCLUDING music, I say MY BAND DOESN'T. We're ALL ORIGINAL thank you very much. Go listen and TRY to say my music sounds like ANYONE else. We're called KNIGHTRAVEN, and you can hear AND download our music MP3's 100% FREE at garageband.com. "See You Tonight" is our newest song there right now. -The 1st video version is here at Yahoo video. -Just type Knightraven in the search box to find it.

Absolutely! John Carpenter did an absolutely perfect job with the original. Any remake of this classic is totally unnecessary. Halloween stands as one of the great horror movies of all time as is. Please tell me he isn't going to ruin this classic!
