It doesn't matter if it's on the harbor or on the river or on the Atlantic ocean. I don't care if it's a little bit away from Boston. I really want a hotel on a beach. Any beach. Just give me suggestions to look up.

Go to the North Shore-Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester or Essex. Try www.cape-ann.com for the Chamber of Commerce of those towns. They are all on the water and will have some good hotel/B&B deals, since it's off season.

Well Boston itself isn't near actual beaches. If you wanted a beach where people will be swimming, etc. you'd need to go to the North Shore, or Cape Cod (anywhere from 35 min to 3 hours out of the city) But you could sure get a nice hotel on the Charles River or at the Harbor. I believe the Hyatt overlooks the Charles River, and there is a Marriot right at the Wharf. . .And also the Seaport Hotel. Again, these aren't beach areas; the Seaport area isn't that great at all - it's mostly for boaters to come in and out, but you'll have a view of the ocean.

It might help to know when you are planning to visit. The reason I ask is I don't think you will want to walk along the beach in the Boston area during the winter - its too cold.
If you really want to walk on a beach in the winter, then I would contact the Mass Office of Travel and Tourism for a list of hotels located on the beach.

In Hull, which is about a 45-minute drive from Boston, there's the Clarion Hotel which overlooks Nantasket Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. You literally walk right across the street and you're on the beach.

I live about 45 min. north of Boston in a small city called Gloucester with a population of about 30,000. Nice quiet area, which is also an island in a sense because it's completely surrounded by water. So there's no shortage of breathtaking sights of the water and beaches. But it doesn't require a boat to get here, we're connected to the outside world by bridges lol. There are many hotels/motels/inns on or around beaches. I wouldnt suggest coming here in the winter, as you wouldnt be able to go to the beach, it starts warming up mid May... beach weather by June. But if you plan on coming in the summer, Id book early, we get alot of tourists come summertime. Hope that helps!
P.S. The movie and book "The Perfect Storm" are based on a true story of Gloucester Fisherman, and parts of the movie were also filmed here.

I'd suggest the Marriot LongWharf for a nice hotel on the water and close to some great shopping and theater/shows in Boston.
Try iBtraveling.com to compare some prices on a bunch of hotels in Boston. Try bidding on Priceline, but then you'd have to take what they give you.
Wish you the best!

There is Boston Harbor Hotel, which is very nice and expensive. Not sure that I'd recommend it, since it's kind of away from downtown.

I don't know too much about boston, but, depending on how much you want to spend, and how much traffic you want to find you can find some great places on cape cod. stay anywhere form the ChatamBars Inn(can be expensive) to renting a house on the beach in Pocasset(bourne/it's a family type area) to the hyannis waterfront(expensive-ish, but you are right on mainstreet and a lot of stores are..within a half hour walking distance) summer cotagges near dennis beach arn't bad...and...if you know somone/get to know them you just might get a chance to sleep on one of the cottages on nauset beach (north beach i think?/ downside? if you could think it is one but, there'se no electricity/plumbing/phones. but lovely views and you can drive off the beach into nauset and into town) if you like simplicity/sailing, cape cod's for you/.

You can stay at the Marriott Long Wharf. it is right outside of downtown and near Fainuel Hall. all the rooms have balconies and a view of the water and you can sit on your balcony and watch the yachts go in and out if the harbor. it is also near the aquarium.
