The American dream is starting in a substandard living place, getting a great education through our phenomenal school system, going to college on a scholarship, getting a degree in advanced engineering, going to work for a firm, getting checks with 6 digits, marrying a model, having 2 kids, and settling in for retirement.
While we know dreams aren't real, the percieved atmosphere of America resembles that of above.

The american dream changes every decade or so. A good idea of the american dream would rpobably be a debt free home in the suburbs with a good sense of culture and class. Also to have children, everyone seems to want to procreate these days.

try learning about the Free Masons, many people believe that they try installing this 'american dream' into our minds so we produce more tax revenue. Also read about the great american classic song Hotel California by the Eagles.

Those aren't American dreams... American dreams include success and riches. if your talking about humor though, i would say something about president Bush. I personally like bush, but there are many people who do not.

Generally, it would be financial and material comfort. Having all the things you want, plus money left over, and never having to worry about that aspect of life. It can also mean fame, or simply living a life that you find fulfilling, even if that means lack of financial excess.

Have you read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"? It's by a guy who was taught from childhood how to achieve the American Dream, and who succeeded by using what he was taught.

White picket fences. A chicken in every pot. Two cars in the garage. "My son is a doctor!" Become a millionaire. Retirement in sunny Florida.
Best of luck.
