yes, this is a shame really as i have had nothing but excellent service from b.t,only this weekend they increased my connection speed and i am now getting download speeds of 800kb/sec.however i have to watch my downloads as bt only give me a cap of 40gb which can be easily reached at speeds like that
with regards to using the helpdesk ,there are 2 options open to you,the first is when you get through to the helpdesk tell them you are hard of hearing,i beleive they forward you to a english speaking helpline
secondly, you can pay a extra £5 on your bill and receive personal assistance with any problems, you need to speak with bt reference this
i have had bt broadband since it started, and had dial up through bt before that,so theres not much i havent experienced thats to do with bt broadband,so before ringing up delhi, give me a e-mail and see if i can sort it out, before having to put up with the india exchange
good luck mate

My last experience of the Indian BT helpdesk was to ask for the IP address of a (BT) DNS server. The poor chap who didn't speak English to well, needed a 15 minute lesson on how important DNS was and what it did. All of this at my expense.

I have learned that you can ask to have your call routed back to the UK to someone who speaks English and has a rough idea of what they are talking about.

Well as far as I know, a lot of their call centres have. I know that the BT Yahoo technical help desk has moved to India because everytime I phone them, I get this nice person from India. I've found that they're very polite and helpful, trouble is, as English isn't their first language (although they speak quite well), you still have to speak more slowly, which of course adds to your phone bill!

so as that's what they think of of of the British artwork stress is it? particular I agree replace 3 hundred and sixty 5 days insurance and grant the jobs to human beings indoors the U.ok. insurance (if u have noted would not get greater advantageous fee-effectual on an identical time as this outsourcing happens - they only make greater advantageous income for the shareholders). i'm very much stunned that the Unions do now no longer protest greater advantageous at this outsourcing, which has now no longer consistently been that effectual and a few agencies have had to circulate the jobs back to the U.ok via actuality shoppers have complained. they could sell their very own mothers in the event that they could. Disgusting. do we pay attention something from the politicians - incredibly silent are actually not they. enable's outsource their jobs to assert India? LOL.

Afraid so. When I used to work for BT as a data analyst, they had just transferred the fault reporting service to India. No-one actually had any figures about how much it cost in the short term to transfer it, how much BT was supposed to be saving in the long term and - I kid you not - how much the firm in India were being paid!

Like most UK companies, BT has moved its call centre operations to India, cos it's cheaper to employ them there. If you really don't want to speak to them, go online.

Yes it is cheaper to employ people in call centres there. If it annoyes you when you call up then say to them in a polite manner, "sorry i cant understand you,can you divert me to the uk please" as they are obliged to. you will find that a lot of companies are doing the same. The world is going nuts!!
