1) A 50 kg crate is pulled by a 300N force at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizantal. The Force of kinematic frictioin is 65N.
What is the acceleration of the box?
2) A 15kg block is being pulled up a ramp at an angle of 35 degrees with a tension force of 150N.
a) what is the x component of the force of gravity acting on the block on the ramp?

1) find the x-component
FT(x)=cos(30)300N=259.8N

a=Fnet/m
friction and FT(x) are the Fnet
a= FT(x)-Friction / m
a= 259.8N-65N / 50kg
a=3.9m/s^2

2) 15kgx9.8=147N
a) sin(35)147N= 120.4N

b) assume there is no friction.
a=Fnet/m
Fw(x) and FT are the Fnet
a= FT-Fw(x) / m
a= 150N-120.4N / 15kg
a=1.97m/s^2

I think the previous poster has an arithmetic error on his answer for 2a and 2b. But the method was correct (he punched in cosine instead of sine on his calculator).

sin(35)*147N = 84 N.

and 150 N - 84 N = 66 N

and 66 N / 15 kg = 4.4 m/s^2
