I would think that it's the celebration of 12th night. Many branches of christianity celebrate the coming of the wise men rather than th actual birthday of christ.

It's the same as Epiphany or Three Kings. Celebrated on the 6th of Jan as the last day of advent and the 12 days of Christmas

L'epiphanie is also known as la fete des rois in France. In England we call it Twelfth Night and it celebrates the day on which the three kings/Magi/WIse Men visited the infant Jesus in the stable. It is celebrated on 6 January.
