We here in Tyrone Oklahoma have one big problem. Barking dogs. And we dont have any regulations that will solve the problem. The council doesnt want to aleviate the problem either. If a person has neighbors who have noisy dogs which desturb their sleep, thats tough. One councilman told me" Thats their problem, Not ours"

See if there is a noise ordinance for the town and make a complaint to the police based on that ordinance. There is also the disturbing the peace aspect too. If the neighbors with the dogs aren't cooperative or reasonable then go this route. Some one else also had the suggestion of starting a petition as well.

I see you are way up there in the panhandle, otherwise, I’d suggest going to the TV media. Here in OKC channel 4 has a news segment called “In Your Corner”. You can get the community’s attention on your problem. You might try writing a letter to the editor of your local paper. There has to be others also bothered by barking dogs.

If you can’t get the Council to pass a “loud noise ordnance” you might file a law suite. Document any lost work days you have because of lack of sleep. It you can prove actual damages, you can then go for punitive damages. But remember, you still have to live with your neighbors, they won’t be too happy about being taken to court.

Some people don’t realize how much they are bothering others. Last Independence Day, I had neighbors firing fireworks at 4 AM ! Their house mysteriously burned down a week later (just kidding).

Start a petition and put pressure on you council members. They are elected officials, Don't let them forget that. Also run for a council position yourself so that other people that feel the same way you do have a voice. Good Luck!!

I would get a petition signed. And if you have prob with this person not doing his job I would also try to get him out of office. Were I used to live in St. Bernard parish we had prob like that. But the people spoke up. Do the same. Good Luck.

If barking dogs is your "one big problem" count yourselves as lucky. You should live where I do.
