after washing, use an astringent and lotion. IF you don't use lotion, your skin will produce more oil.

Try Clinique...it works for me.

ok, now, if you use a face wash, stop! either change it to one for oily skin, or an oil free face wash.If you use any other products, change them to oil free ones-just go into boots and ask a sales assistant to help you find one that is oil free! you can always just try washing your face with just lukewarm water and then use cleanser, toner and moisturiser instead of face wash etc. another thing is to reduce the amount of conditioner you use on you hair-especially the front of it, the oils in shampoo and conditioner transfer onto your skin meaning the oil just sits on top of your skin. also dont wash your face twice a day!another thing is to drink lots of water, i have a fridge that has a water machine, but if you dont have this, buy lots of ice trays and a britta water filter. fill up pint glasses of water at a time and add ice so its really cold, put a straw in it - this will make you drink it quicker! do this about 6 times a day minimum and your skin will be much less oily and much heathier! ive done all these things and they all work-from trial and error!!!good luck

Cleanse, tone, moisturise
Use a gentle face wash designed for oily skin.
Use a toner. This will remove all traces of face wash.
Use a light moisturiser. This is important because your skin is becoming oily as it tries to replace the natural oils your washing away.

Then get powder sheets. These are small sheets of paper which hae been powdered with oil absorbing stuff. You can use these throughout the day to take away any shine.

The more you wash it the more greasy it is likely to get. try out some face creams from the chemist specially for greasy skin...they are bound to help. also soap dries out your skin but so not do this for a too long period of time as it may leave your skin too dry as it takes out the moisture from the skin.

You are "over-washing" it and stripping it of it's natural protective oils. Your skin is therefore producing more oil to compensate for the loss. Find a facial wash for oily skin AND a moisturiser designed for oily skin. Try NOT to use soap which is too harsh. If you have acne, see your GP for a prescription of either anti-biotics or a stronger topical solution. Try cleaning it with a gentle facial cleanser and you will see the difference.

What do you use? Try something that says it's oil free. If it doesn't say that then that's probably the reason your skin is getting greasy.

happens to my mum, poor love.
best thing she found was dove soap and a gentle exfoliator, it doesnt strip her skin therefor it has got used to not having to produce so much oil.
She tried lots of things before and the more unnatural the product and the more it stripped the skin, the worse her problem got.
also watch your diet, drink lots of water and cut down on fatty nasty bad foods, your skin may get worse for a few days whilst it cleans itself out but then it will improve.
maybe you could tery a full detox?

You can't really stop it, just the chemistry of your skin. But you can buy Rice Paper, to dab on your face and pick up excess oils.
