I need to know what else i need to download (freebies if possible) to run along side it. I think I have my own firewall on here but if not what is the best one to go for? (windows xp home)
Trying this as computer is slowing and i have done the defrag, disk clean up etc and it hasnt made any difference.
Many thanx in advance for everyones help.
(can it all be said in 'easy talk' as i am not very computer literate!! haha)

I've just got avg security paid for 2 years this week, best move i have made, got rid of Norton as run out, it seems Norton never liked bt always losing the connection i had to re-start like 6 times every hour or so!! but now "touch-wood" slow old computer is fast and stays on line really really pleased with it , as you know its so hard to decide with so much out there , just go by what most people stay is the best bet worked for me.

I have used security products from Comodo and found them to be far better than Norton. You can download their very easy to use firewall for windows and other free security products:

I have a couple of customers that use AVG and have been very happy. Grisoft is great but slows down your machine and I found it needed alot of handholding.
Windows OneCare very very slow and resource intensive.

Last night, I did exactly as you are thinking of doing. AVG is fine, I have spoken to a few people and no-one seems to have any problems. Its easy, remove Norton and download AVG. I also downloaded AVG Anti spyware and installed it along with K9 Web Protection.
Good luck..... Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can..........

Sygate personal firewall and AVG are a good combo. I have been running that setup for about 3 years now and really likeit

AVG is good, but you can get Ad aware also it's a free download
for spyware, if I remember it's from Grisoft. Good luck.

had avg for 3 years now its good and does the job i also use zone alarm firewall as for junk i use adawre and spybot search and destroy they have all kept me puter clean so i would recommend you using them all and they are all free downloads go to www.freecreed.com you will find them there
