Snakes are animals. Evil has to deal with human opinion.
Yes some snake can kill with one bite, and yes some can even suffocate you too.
However, all snakes are afraid of humans because you are bigger than them. They bite because of the "flight or fight" response.
So as long as you are cautious, careful, and know all about taking care of your python you can own one.

Seriously, the spelling of this question alone is bad enough to make you think it can't be real. You are just looking for an inflammatory question to see what kind of responses you can get.

So here we go. Snakes do NOT make good pets. I have worked with snakes and had them for over 20 years. I still have quite a few and do educational programs with reptiles and amphibians. Most of the animals I have came from abuse situations and were in bad shape. I have lost many that were too far gone.

IN GENERAL (certainly not everyone) most people are not equipped to take care of an animal that can live over 20 years. (Which most healthy snakes should). Snakes require special temperatures, food, waste removal, and a host of other considerations.

Even with all my experience (I have a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from CSU) I still lose an occasional animal to an illness or other unforseen event.

Snakes belong in the wild. Ball pythons often come from Snake Mills, where adult females are bred repeatedly until they die very prematurely. This docile snake species deserves better than to be given to someone who doesn't know the first thing about these animals and will surely die a slow and lingering death.

No such thing as an evil animal.
Ball pythons are good first snakes.. King snakes are better. Both are constrictors and not poisonous.
Ball pythons are called that because they will ball up when frightened. They come from West Africa where they are called Royal pythons.
Snakes are not aggressive creatures, no matter what you're told.
And, they make excellent pets. They are just as personable as any other creature, and all have their own personalities.
I hope your grandmother changes her mind. Perhaps you could check out some books on snakes at the library and educate her a bit on them?
Good luck.

I don't know what herpetology (snakes et al) has to do with religious beliefs like the "devil" but NO, snakes are not evil... not even the poisonous ones. They are just animals, doing what they do. And NO not all snakes are poisonous. There are many great Internet sites on stuff like this, you might enjoy doing some surfing to see what reptiles make good pets! I have a chameleon, he's pretty cool

Actually, not all snakes are poisonous. In fact to believe that they are evil is absurd. Snakes use to be a symbol of knowledge.
Look at the symbol for medicine. It has 2 intertwined snakes on it.
How can the symbol for medicine be evil?
I understand why she is concerned though.
Just tell her this:
Ball Pythons have extremely docile temperments. They have interesting marking and are a manageable size by comparison to other pythons. They are very popular pets.

Not all snakes are poisonous, and the ball python certainly isn't, and snakes are not evil...
Your grandma just doesn't want you to have a snake.

My 9 year old Granddaughter goes around with her corn snake wrapped around her arm all the time. So no the are not. The corn snake doesn't get big like a python and they are very pretty. (after you get used to the idea) You may want to look into getting one instead of the python.

Not all snakes are poisonous, but why in the world would you want a snake? There are other things you could consider as a pet.

First of all, snakes are neither good nor bad. They are what they are. Humans assign value judgments.

Not all snakes are venomous. The ball python (for instance) takes its prey via constriction. My guess is that Grandma just doesn't like snakes and is giving you a reason that sounds good to her.

Pythons are dangerous, but not poisonous. Snakes aren't evil. They're just snakes. They are wild animals - not to be taken in as pets. Do whatever you will. Just remember to keep the thing in a cage - it's not a pet, despite what people say.
