If you get any STATE payments included with your SSI, it may affect that. Different states may pay different amounts to SSI recepients.

If you move to Florida from NY your SSI may be reduced. SSI is different from state to state, however, their is a basic federal portion of the SSI payment. Some states, including NYS, choose to add additional dollars to an ssi payment (state supplement). Some states do not have the state supplement, so people in that state just receive the basic federal grant. You may want to contact the SSA and see if they can tell you how much your sSI payment would be if you moved to Florida. (1-800-772-1213). If you moved to Florida, you would also need to go to the SSA and register with SSI with you get there.

The SSI grant is $623.00 per month in all 50 states but some states add to that and some don't. You need to call soc. sec. at 1-800-772-1213 and ask them what the SSI amount is in the state you are moving to.

Also, sometimes, when you move to another state, not often though, you may have to be re-evaluated to determine if your disability still exists.................. so be very careful about where yo move to and know what to expect before you move.
