Can i buy a dual core prossesor and straight swap it with my pentium 4 2.4ghz?Will it work and will it make my computer faster???

well it depends on your motherboard if it can support the dual core since it might be totally different.
so u would need to know exactly what type of motherboard u have before u go and buy a new motherboard, what u can do is download http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php this will get u info on the motherboard then u need to goto the site who made the motherboard to see what it can support.

It will make your computer faster alright but first you need to find out if your motherboard can support the Dual core. Check the motherboard manufacturer website to see if you need a Bios update or a new motherboard.

There's quite a lot you need to set up before you rip out an old piece of computer hardware and savagely force a new one in the hole.

Check compatibility, suggested information, create backups, or (preferably) ask a professional to do it for you.

I don't mean to be offensive, but if your asking this question, it would be a whole lot easier (and faster) to ask a friendly person at your local Computer Store.

please see if ur motherboard has same socket matching dual core processor.if it is same then ok otherwise u hve to buy new motherboard
