Congressional Campaign?

I've had a few post on this topic but Would like to emphasize some points. What would get your attention to vote for someone for your local congressional district. What Could I do to get your vote? I just hand out flyers? Go to local street fairs (I live in nyc) and just have a table about me and greet voters? Add everyone in my district to a myspace account? What are some ways I can mass fully gain voters along with volunteers? I know many different points, but you as voters what would you like best?

Definitely attend local community events. Do something which will get your name in the program, even if it's sitting in a dunking booth...heh.

Internet is defiitely a major factor these days. Make sure you are visible on MySpace and FaceBook. Start a Yahoo Group for your supporters, so you can put out updates in e-mail and on the web. If you are going to use these tools, make sure to have a group of volunteers to look for troublemakers out to sabotage your efforts.

Do interviews with the media, even if it's a dinky AM station or student newspaper. Make sure they know you are available. Some would welcome the opportunity to interview anyone of significance, even it it's a local political candidate.

This will sound like a cliche', but I'd quickly vote for someone who was a real "Average Joe".

Seriously.

I mean, someone who walked right on the seen and admit that they'd smoked pot some umpteen times in their life. They had a criminal record when they were young and stupid. They didn't exactly "ace" college but they got through. They no NOTHING of foreign policy and honestly don't care for issues that have nothing to do with GOVERNMENT or GOVERNING THIS COUNTRY (i.e. Abortion, Gay marriage) - (not that the person doesn't care, but will not use that as a platform to run on, nor will choose to make it a political focus once in office). Someone who will bring our troops home and keep them here until needed to DEFEND, not to EXPLORE elsewhere for no f*cking reason. Someone who will have compassion for mankind, but more especially our own citizens. Someone who will look at all issues and act on national issues and national concerns in a manner that would be in the best interest of ALL citizens. Someone honest that will not take bribes. Some JUST smart enough, JUST charming enough, JUST plain and simple and "in your face enough", to be liked and respected enough by both political parties.

You have to say what you really mean and mean what you say. It's pretty much expected that most politicians never see through to completion, the very thing they ran on to get votes. You can't just have integrity and honesty in public light. It has to be the real you to the core, all the time.

There is no such person, but I'm sure you'll get some votes anyway.

You look and smell like a conservative. So I suggest you do what conservatives do best. Grab them and kiss their rear ends.
