Maybe you didn't read the speech or understand his dream but the last time I checked his dream was to unite all people black white asian lations etc. and why can't people just respect a man that stood up for what he believe in and made a difference? I'm not sayn that people of different races shouldn't have a day to remember their heros, Im just sayn that he fought for equality for all not just black people. So why are people saying that this is just for black people when its clearly not?

Some people do not see beyond their nose. Columbus Day and George Washington Day are not limited to an ethnic group. People who are narrow or square will never be round because they like their difference. All heroes shaped the nation and world whether we remember them with a day or not.

People probably think it's all about black people because all that happened during the civil rights movement which was about black people!! I understand his view on equal treatment of ALL races but it's hard to see him separate from the African-American Civil Rights Movement since that's what he was a part of!

I have heard some say that too, and it makes me mad. The answer to your question is ignorance, I guess.

I love his speech, and I cry every time I hear it. I think a person, no matter what race, would have to have a heart of a stone not to be moved by such words.
