If you try and encourage her to quit, you are likely to annoy her and she won't want to give up. You are totally within your rights to ask her to not smoke in your presence. She is within her rights to refuse. She will give up when she is ready.

If you really like her, and you laugh together, have intimate, intelligent, coversations with one another, then you slowly bring the subject of smoking up to her. Ask her how long she has been smoking. Ask if it is alright to talk about it. Let her know the truth, that you don't like cigarette smoking. You have to look out for "yourself", as well as the woman you really like. Maybe she would try some of the patches, gum, classes, etc. if you go with her, buy it for her, etc. Make sure she is comforatble talking about it. After all, it is an addiction, and will take some time. I am a smoker for 24 years. I am now learning to quit using Wellbrutin. Ask her to ask her Primary Care Physician for assistance in quitting. As much as she "may" care about you, she has to do it for herself in order for it to last. I hope this helps. :)

You can't. A person will only quit smoking if they want to. Otherwise, it won't work.

If your anti-smoking, then simply don't date her. If you really like her, then find a way to deal with it, or to get over it.

"if you ever quit smoking, give me a call." Don't try to get her to quit, you'll just be perceived as a nag. Us smokers hate that. Or, you can ask her not to smoke around you.

Don't date her; you are already trying to change her. How would you feel if she wanted to get you to smoke?

I'm not saying you are in love, because you are obviously not! She has every right to do what she does as it is not yet illegal. If you truly cared for her you would accept her for what she is and does, regardless of what your personal opinions are.
