If you really need it? i do have a decent paying job, i'm a single mother of 2 kids (the father abused me). I just don't see how being on welfare is wrong, especially when i pay taxes to help. I don't think it should be taken advantage of by no means, but if a person is doing all they can to survive, and it's still not enough, then why is it considered wrong??

sway, until you are in a situation when you need help, you really shouldn't judge people.

I can see your point. Even people who have full time jobs and work overtime struggle in today's society. They need to be careful how they judge others. They may have to apply for it one day.

There is nothing wrong with it but there will always be people that will judge u.. I have been on food stamps for years.. I do NOT abuse the system (I am disabled).. People still call me lazy and accuse me of not wanting to work.. I had a son who was disabled..I was a full time student and working part time... People called me lazy... Don't let anyone tell u it is wrong.. U NEED it and ur kids NEED it..nothing wrong with that... People love to judge.. One day they will need it just to survive and they will find out what it's all about when people call them "lazy, and good for nothing". Illegal aliens are getting it and they don't deserve it.. U and I have paid taxes and there is NOT one thing wrong with it.. Just ignore the ignorant A HOLES who think they know everything.. One day when they really need assistance, they will know it's not just something to do... People on welfare are treated like third class citizens and they are treated like dirt.. U have to tell food stamps, sect. 8 , etc every time u go and "potty" ..it's real fun..

There's nothing wrong with being on welfare when you need a little help and you have no other choice. There is something wrong with abusing it or trying to stay on it for life when you refuse to even attempt to support yourself. I don't know anyone who complains and says it's 'wrong' when a person is doing all they can yet still needs some help.

*there's also a difference between being 'ashamed' to be on welfare and believing it's 'wrong'. When I was very little, my mom needed food stamps around the time my mentally ill father 'ran off' and deserted us. She was embarrassed and hated the fact that she needed them but it wasn't 'wrong'. She was able to get two jobs so she stopped using them as soon as she could.

If someone really needs it then that is what it is there for. But too often the welfare system is being taken advantage of. I think there are a myriad of ways to help yourself without having to go on welfare, but if you have exhausted all your avenues then by all means use it. It just infuriates me when people don't even try to help themselves and just keep having kids so they can get more money & stay on welfare instead of helping themselves. That is just plain lazy. At least you are working and trying to help yourself and that counts for something!

It is not wrong. who told you that it was? I only get medical because I don't qualify for the food stamps and cash aid but I too am a single mom with no child support because dad is a deadbeat. Oh he works but won't pay me a thing and living in the bay area who needs a car? He couldn't care less about us. anyway there is nothing wrong using it if you need to. It is the peole that misuse it that make it hard for us that do

In your case, it doesnt. You sound like you are using welfare in a good way to support your family. But there are cases where people take great advantage of welfare and that can piss off all the people who pay taxes towards that money. I know of a person in particular who is a drug addict on welfare and she just keep purchasing drugs....

1. Your job isn't a decent paying job if it can't support an adult and two kids. Good luck and G-d bless.

2. It's not wrong. You will get some resentment from other taxpayers: "Why should I help support someone else and her kids? I'd like to have kids of my own!"

There isn't anything wrong with making sure your children are fed. The problem is where people take advantage of the government and use funds inappropriately that could well be used for someone else in dire need.

It sounds like you're doing the best you can with what you have to do with. A lot of people need help sometimes. Don't let ignorant people make you feel bad about yourself. You know your situation better than anyone else. Anyone not willing to help you has no right to be critical of you. God bless you, hon.
