A good english version of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' books. For instance:One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967), Love in the Time of Cholera (1985). He's a colombian writer, in case you don't know him, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
Or maybe Isabel Allende's novels. For ex.,The House of the Spirits (1982),Of Love and Shadows (1984). She was born in Chile and now she's living in California.
I read those novels when I was a student but in spanish, since I'm from argentina, and their books were very interesting and kept my attention to the end. You will enjoy them!
Good Luck with your paper!
