I have a plant from IKEA., that looks like an evergreen, small needles covering the whole plant, branches fan out etc. sorry no pic.
what is it and how does one care for it?

Sounds like a Norfolk pine - small needles are a little soft, indoor plant in most climates. Water when necessary, mist (likes humidity), diffused light.

Could be one of many things. Hard to tell without a picture. How tall? Flowers? Any more info?
