Have you ever considered that he might be moving to USA to try and res erect his wife's career?

Perhaps, they think that she will be closer to movie makers etc.
Or, at least be in the shop window, for anything that comes along.

She has already failed big time to make it as a solo singer.

To Everyone: Beckham is now the most paid athlete in the Unite States, 250/million over 5 years means he gets paid twice as much as Alex Rodriguez (now #2)

The MLS is trying to make soccer work in the only place in the world where... soccer doesn't work.

Everyone in the world knows what soccer looks like, and many people in the US has played it while growing up at some point, and yet, it's still has really lousy ratings and fan following in the US.

The MLS hopes by having Beckham play for them, it'll bring a big name celebrity element to garner more fans and thus, more cash (in the long run).

And face it, Beckham is old, he should've retired this year, instea, he's going to retire here in the US. Pretty sweet deal for him, play soccer for 5 more years without the weight of the world on him, haha.

He's an investment... if he doesn't make fans go to soccer games, then nothing will.

i think so. Cuz I think LA is trying to make Beckham as a attraction for soccer, not a soccer player.

why kick him (excuse pun) he is only doing what anyone else would do! if some one wants to give you 1000,000# a week would you say no?. David says its not the money and i believe him after all he's got enough now but as for Victoria i think she has Rodeo Drive in mind but anyway good luck to them, and i hope it works well for them in LA

Why else would he want to play in a league that's not rated by professionals above our 1st division ? "It's not for the money" - course not.

He's not much of a footballer to anyone else now though, no-one else appeared to want him, or was prepared to buy him to sell t-shirts.
