Okay...the monthly cycle goes like this...the egg is ripened in the ovary, it gets pushed out, & travels towards the closest fallopian tube... when it is in the tube & early in the uterus is when you can get preggers. Meanwhile, the uterus is building up for an implantation. If the egg is not fertilized in the time it takes to get from the opening of the tube into the uterus...usually 2-3 days, (a week before your next period) your period happens, because the egg didn't have the instructions to stick. USUALLY, you get the hornies when you are ovulating...hormones & all that.
Sperm don't hang around long, bacteria eat the tails & then they can't go anywhere & die...
I learned 90% of this in health class in HS...which was over 30 years ago...what are they teaching now????

You need to count back from your next period due date, not forwards from the last. Most women ovulate about 14 days before their next period and remain fertile for about 36-48 hours.

hi
try www.ivillage.co.uk and then go onto the pregnancy part, there is a bit where you can find your fertile days, you input the date of your last period and how long they normally last and it pops up with the next two years worth of dates when you are ovulating and it gives you the due dates. if you still have no luck why not pop to your GP or family planning place they will be happy to help

I am, but that is because I ovulate at day 9. Start buying ovulation kits and you will be able to know when you are most fertile.
