Yes, contact your tax office. You last employer is legally obliged to supply you with a copy of your p45. They could be fined for failing to do so.

You don't need a P45. Your new employer can give you a form to fill out (think it's a P46) which just asks for your NI number and your old employer's details.

Don't stress dude! This is actually a **very** common situation. Firstly, it's often the case that when people start a new job their old employer has not possibly had a chance to get their P45 done (if you were going straight from one job to another with no break period in between). The other situation could be if you are a temp who works for an agency - most temps are registered with more than one agency, and you obviously can't give your P45 to all of them.

So, don't even worry about calling the tax office. Your new employer will understand and will give you the relevant forms to complete.

Ask your new employer for a P46, fill it it in and send to tax office, they will then send you a new P45!
After you sorted it all out, tell your old boss to feck off:))

your old employer is legally responable to return your P45.
Not to return it within 28 days is criminal offense.
Speak to your Local Tax office they will be able to help

You don't absolutely need your p45 as you can go onto emergency tax which will come back to you if you've overpaid in due course.
