Best bet would be take up a smaller job, possibly in Department stores, just for 2 months or so.
If your really keen on getting a job involved with Education, you could always ask the local council if there's anything you could get involved with.
It really does depend what's avaliable near you.

Go and do Camp America! I did it twice and it was awesome, but I had to stop because then I got a real job so couldn't take that long off over the summer. You don't get paid a lot, but your accommodation and food costs are covered whilst you're there, and you do get enough that you still bring home a decent chunk of cash at the end of the summer.

Well, they can work in Summer Programs at the Y, they can work at a seasonal resort, they can spread the pays out over the summer, or they can marry rich. I work in a school system and the support personnel do have a benefit to be on the school calendar, to be home with their children, if they have them, and to receive health insurance at a very reasonable rate.

Like every other job it depends on your contract. Mostly if your contract covers you for the summer term you are paid up till the end of August. Otherwise you could always sign on.

Dunno it it applies to assistants, but teachers don't get paid over the holidays. But their annual salary is paid in 12 monthly instalments.
