Short Sighted means "Long sight had shortened". This is true for scientifically and philosophical meaning.
Scientifically - This mean Myopia (mind this is opposite of Hypermetropia which mean Longsighted - Short word Myopia and long word Hypermetropia). In this eye lens get deflated so that image is formed before cornea resulting not able to see far things.
Philosophical: Person who do not or cannot visualize things in future i.e, thinks in very short horizon.

it is basically a sickness of those who cannot see things clear when far away...they can see them but blurry...and can see them clearly when they go nearer the object...that's why it is short-sighted...the lenght of their sight is very limited that the farther they go, the more they don't see...

it means u can only see things close to you... and things further away are blurry or distored!! long sighted is the oposite! so u can see this clearly far away but things closer to you are blurry/distorted!
