The universe encompasses all of known space. Only God knows how it began, but in science it began as a single point in space. This point exploded because it could no longer sustain its mass and pressure. The explosion sent out debris in all directions of space at or near the speed of light. From this debris stars and planets form. This expansion from the initial explosion has never stopped, and scientist do not know how far it can travel. We only know how to measure this expansion by studying the cosmic microwave background (CMB). The universe will never die. If it stops expanding it may contract and then explode again. Not even the worlds greatest scientist fully understand when the expansion will stop, if it ever does. There are many theories about this topic, but the only thing humans can do right now is study the expansion through our available technologies. It will take a new discovery in science to better understand our universe.

The universe is everything - all of space and matter.
It began with the Big Bang - look it up for more info.
Most think it will expand forever, but no one is positive on this.
If it does expand forever, it will exist forever. But it will still die - what some call a "cold death". Eventually all the matter of the universe will be stuck in black holes, neutron stars, and white dwarfs, and no new stars will be formed.

Starts with the big bang, expands, and then nobody is sure what will happen next. Expansion to infinity and darkness, decay of everything until only radiation is left, or a big crunch.

the universe is everything and it supposed to never end, beginning are lots of ideas for God to the big bang, and it is said to die when the sun explodes but that really is not the end because then only one small part is gone.
