My boyfriends son came to stay with him last January. Things have been strained because I find it hard to find my place in the relationship. My boyfriend is not very affectionate but he is with his son. I find myself becoming more and more jealous and I hate it. Things have seemed to get worse since his son got a playstation and they play it all the time leaving me excluded because I hate the thing.

my dads gf was the same way,and me and my sister hated it.you dont want your bfs son to get the wrong impression of you.even though you hate playstation,ask to play along,too.thats what being a step-mom is all about.i realize youre not married yet,but soon enough,what will happen if he were to ask you to marry him?youd have to do all those things with his son.even if that includes playstation,which you hate.you can no longer be jealous of your boyfriends son.your bf will eventually pick up on this,and he wont want to be tied between choosing.my dad chose his gf over me and my sister,and it killed us.he would always tell us that hed never choose the new woman in his life over us,and he did.dont be the one to ruin a son/father relationship.the affection in a parent/child relationship is different in a bf/gf relationship,so hang in there.

Your situation seems similar to mine. Well kind of. I am more affectionate with my son then I was with my ex boyfriend. Even though he never said anything he looked like he was jealous. For me, its easier to show love and affection towards your own child. If you had your own child you would understand how it feels to have that bond with someone you created and brought into this world.
I guess the only way you can stop feeling jealous of their relationship is to try to join them with their activities. If you seem them playing PlayStation sit down with them and try to get into it with them. Or plan something all three of you guys can do together so you won't feel excluded. Your best bet is to talk to your boyfriend and let him know how you feel and if you feel like you can't overcome this jealousy...then maybe you might have to move on.

it is hard to know where u stand in these situations b/cause the bond they share is different to the bond u have i would just say try and b the kids friend rather than his mother and spend quality time with his son on your own then family time will b easier its only human to feel excluded especially when u r not part or being included in the time they share maybe your b/friend is trying hard 2 make his son feel welcome b/c u dont say why the son is living with u
