As a previous answerer posted... "How Soccer Explains the World" has a bit to do with hooliganism, and the predecessor to it "Soccer vs the Enemy" (by a different author) is just as pertinent.
The best individual account of hooliganism I read lately though is "Among the Thugs" by Bill Buford. His book is set in the 80s to early 90s frame, where to varying degrees he follows some Man United, Chelsea and West Ham fans around in their activities.

It's not current, but look up a book called Awaydays (sorry I forget the author). It's about Tranmere Rovers hooligans and really gives a flavour of what it was like in those days.

If you are researching it or anything like that and need more information, I am good friends with a Polish football hooligan(retired). He has footage of them meeting up and fighting and access to the way they used to do stuff. I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping. he has had nothing to do with it for a few years now though.
