Your doctor should have tested you for Strep B in the 32-34 week of pregnancy. This is done by all doctors to prevent what happened to you. I think you should file a malpractice suit against your doctor b/c if your Strep B had come up positive, they could have treated you preventing the death of your baby. Hire an attorney and get started right away! I'm really sorry to hear about your daughter and I hope something good will come out of this.

Look, it's almost impossible to prove malpractice. It's possible, but after all this time people are going to think why didn't you do this sooner? I'd have liked to sued the Ob-Gyn who did my wife's last pap test and didn't do a breast exam. We talked to an attorney and he told us doctors don't normally want to testify against other doctors as it raises all their rates for malpractice. My wife died, and I was mad, too, but it seems a hard thing to prove the doctor did anything wrong. Even when there is a record of malpractice with the doctor. I don't know about your doctor. Maybe you could ask around and see if anyone else has had the same problem with him. You find enough similar cases and you might have a class action suit. but you have to consider the cost. Do what your heart says, but be prepared before you start something.

I am sorry for your loss. You need to reevaluate your situation and decide if pursuing this matter will bring closure for you or if you are doing something out of spite. I can't imagine what it is like to lose a baby that far along, but you need to find a way to heal and feel better. If you do decide to go the legal route, remember that prosecuting a member of the medical profession is very difficult, lengthy and costly. I know because I tried to sue a doctor who misdiagnosed me and I ended up having emergency surgery. I think the most important thing here is making yourself healthy and happy and should you go on to have more children, make sure you are knowledgeable and well educated in the whole pregnancy process. An informed patient is a healthy one. Good luck to you.

Even though generally doctors do test for GBS you need to understand that treatment has not been shown to improve the outcome.
Giving IV or vaginal antibiotics reduces the number of minor GBS infections but it does not reduce total mortality. It does slightly reduce the number of serious GBS infections BUT it increases the number of anti-biotic resistant infections (such as e coli) so in the end the same number of infants die.

I am sorry that you experienced such a horrible tragedy, but honestly I do not believe that your doctor was negligent. Or that different treatment would have changed the outcome. There is of course the chance that antibiotics during labour could have changed the outcome. There is also the chance that the antibiotics could have done more harm than good. Though the doctors should have given you the option of the test they were not truely negligent in their care.

First of all, I am really sorry for your terrible loss, it shouldn't have happended. In the UK it isn't tested for routinely (stupid, I know) but because of that, it can't become anyone's responsibility. This should be changing soon but in the meantime, you can order a test from 0207 307 7373 and they will send it to you then it costs £32 for them to get the results, which they will give you by post and if positive, you can recive intravenous antibiotics, which is all it takes to solve it. You take the test at 34/35 weeks.

Find out if strep b tests are considered to be the standard of care in your area, if the doctors did not follow the standard of care they may have left themselves open to a malpractive lawsuit. When I had my baby 2 months ago, they did a strep test even though I was having a scheduled c-section, and the pediatrician asked me again the morning of my surgery if I'd had the test, so here it is definitely standard. My heart goes out to you, you've been through a lot.

You should have been tested for Strep B...you should have got a shot about 8 hours befoer you delivered. You may want to consult a lawyer about a malpractice suit.

Her husband and herself frolicked on my own interior the room with their deceased toddler, and then the family members exchange into welcomed into the room. They took photographs, enjoyed their time, and surpassed the toddler around for family members to hold. i think of the Christian in me does not trust maximum of that, yet I won't even start to objective and clarify myself. i don't think of i'd desire to.. that's merely how i've got faith. even although, i could in all danger choose a image or 2, yet i'm uncertain if i could be waiting to ascertain them oftentimes for the purpose of all of the crying i be responsive to i could do! **I deleted my final paragraph approximately retouching. i did not prefer to sound recommend and that i think to each their very own. i'm not so particular approximately that component, rather.... ***Alrighty, i desperate to bypass forward and look on the photographs. had to hold myself returned from crying.
