Why Didn't Orochimaru Choose Neji?

Question

He chose sasuke for his containter, why not Neji? Wasn't Neji the #1 rookie in Konoha? He also had a grudge and hatred against the main branch.
He has a very interesting kekkei genkai in the byakugan which some argue is better than the sharigan, so is there a real reason, or is this just the way things are? Does anyone have any opinions on this matter?

yes his attitude changed b/c of naruto, but wasn't orochimaru's choice made before this happened?

The reason he didn't choose Neji was because Orochimaru's ultimate goal is to learn every single jutsu in the world. He knew that he could not achieve this with a normal human life span, thus he created the jutsu that lets him transfer into different bodies. Now the reason he chose Sasuke was because, 1) Itachi was too powerful for him to use when they were in Akatsuki and 2) Sasuke also has the Sharingan which copies almost any jutsu and this would help Orochimaru reach his goal. Plus Sasuke, unlike Itachi, wouldn't be as hard to bend to his will.

Orochimaru wants the Sharingan. Thats it. Not the byakugan. Just the Sharingan. He knows Itachi is much stronger than him. And the only other choice is Sasuke. He almost picked Kimamaru, some guy with a blood limit that lets him control his bones, but that guy started to die. So he wants sasuke.

I think it has to do with the fact that Sasuke has a hatred and hurt do deep, deeper than Neji. Sure, Neji hated the Hyuga main branch, but he still lives with them and will probably do what he's supposed to do and take care of Hinata. Sasuke is an avenger. His whole life is about finding Itachi and killing him.

Well, the way i see it, Neji wouldnt betray his village wheras sasuke was prepared to do anything to get the power to kill Itachi. Also, the reason that Orochimaru gives for wanting sasuke is that, although Byakugan is good, you arent able to copy techniques with it, which is wat orochimaru wants to do. he want to learn all the techniques available which will be possible when sasuke is his container.

1.sasuke was an uchiha and he couldnt get Itachi
2.Sasuke is a fast learner
and
3.Orochimaru wants the sharingan not nejis buyagugon(howevrer you spell it -_-)
4.sasuke would do anything in order to get stronger

plus if neji would betray anyone he would probley die b/c of that mark on his forehead

true, he was the #1 rookie, AND he has the byakugan but he doesn't hate the main branch as much as you would think. after Naruto defeats him in the final rounds of the chunin exams he begins to think a little better of them. thus his loyalty to the Hyuuga clan increases. that and he isn't power hungry like Sasuke. does that answer your question? to put it frankly it's a comparison of morals. hope i helped.

Because he knew that sasuke would do anything to get power to kill his brother itachi.Just like sasuke said"i will gain power even if it means drowning myself in darkness". Also he could not get itachi, and sasuke is very easy to decieve especially when he wants something badly.

based on theese 3 articles i would say that sasuke was already evil before orochimaru caputred him cuz of itachi why not neji?
cuz he calms down a bit after the chuunin exams after his uncle tells him it was his father who wanted 2 be dead plus sasuke wud do anything 2 get itachi back!
