"The system" isn't a cause, it's a symptom.
The governing realities, institutional and otherwise, are the product of what we as a society have created and what we have chosen to tolerate, if only by inaction.
We may loathe our political leaders, but we re-elect over 90% (literally)
of Congress in any given election.
We may gnash our teeth at big nasty corporations, but we buy their products and services.
We may abhor the state of our culture, but we keep spending money that makes crap profitable.
In a democratic, free-market system, we get not what we say we want with our words, but what we actually choose with our deeds.
