1 part of the economic circle desirable consequence: the coal burning plant requires coal, which is brought in via truck or rail (which paid its workers to deliver) which was mined in a coal or strip mine (which employed miners, machine operators, cleaners, etc who buys electricity, groceries, shoes, pays their mortgage, pay their taxes, etc)
2. mining, trucking, and burning carbon based fuels all provide "acceptable levels of pollution. But how near to disacter is acceptable?

U get electricity.
By burning it in a large plant the co. has scrubbers on the chimmey and this removes most of the pollutants.
The bad old CO2 is not a pollutant as it is absorbed by plants.

A) You get electricity!
B) You get sulfur oxides, which lead to acid rain. You get carbon dioxide, which leads to global warming :) Depending on your exhaust system, you may get soot, which leads to respiratory distress and increased cancer in those downwind.
