That gorgeous and handsome Matt Dillon swaggered up the bar at the Longbranch Saloon and ordered up his usual shot of whiskey. The bartender winked his eye slyly at him and walked away from the bar without filling his drink order. He knew what Matt really wanted and he signalled upstairs for one of the regulars to get the Feisty Miss Kitty. She sauntered down the stairs in her usual languid and sensual way, seeing Matt at the bar waiting for his drink, and presumably her.
Their affair had been going on for years but they never let on in public that they were really an item. There's was a relationship that was full of teasing innuendo and that's they way they liked it. It was no one else's business in Dodge City what those two did once the stars came out at night. For all intents and purposes, the townsfolk assumed he was married to his job and he was. But he was still a man and though he was unprepared to make his intentions toward Miss Kitty public knowledge, he knew what to do with her once he had her alone. Only once had anyone gotten close to finding out about their love affair, but their secret was safe because it was only Festus and he could be trusted to keep their little secret.
Miss Kitty sashayed behind the bar and poured Matt his drink, casting a seductive eye his way and then making it disappear just as quickly when she noticed Old Doc watching her intently. She slid Matt's drink in front of him and watched him as he tipped the shot back and allowed the warm liquid to quench his parched throat. She liked the way his adam's apple bobbed in his throat as he swolled his welcome refreshment. "Tonight" was all he whispered to her before laying his coin on the table and walking back outside into the dry hot air.

Matt Dillon is the sherrif of Dodge City. He's sitting in his office when he hears a ruckus at the Longbranch Saloon. He grabs his gun and heads over to find out what's going on. As he walks in, he see's Old Doc looking over a fella who was shot and Miss Kitty coming down the stairs. He looks at the bartender and asked him what happened. The bartender tells him Festus got feisty and shot the man, didn't know who he was, he just wandered into town. They got into an argument over Miss Kitty. Festus has had a crush on Miss Kitty for a long time. Miss Kitty had no interest in Festus, because she was in love with Sherriff Dillon, but he was too stubborn to see that because he was married to his job.

Matt Dillon: Kitty, I'm in a hurry. I need a quickie!
Miss Kitty: I beg your pardon!
Matt Dillon: A drink of whiskey. I gotta get back to work. And I'm parched.
Miss Kitty: I swear Matt, you are married to your job! There hasn't been a crime here in Dodge in 3 months.
Festus: Matthew, Miss Kitty is absolutely right. You need to take some time off.
Matt: What do you think, Doc? Should I just take some time off?
Old Doc: Festus is absotutlely right, Kitty give another drink.
Festus: You better be careful, Doc. Too much of that stuff'll land you in the calaboose as a public drunk.
Old Doc: And who's gonna put me there, You!
Festus: Matthew, Doc's getting feisty again.
Matt: I gotta get back to the office. Festus, take care of Doc. Kitty, I'll see you later.
Miss Kitty: I can hardly wait!

My great-uncle Festus Ford wanted his son be named Dodge City because he was conceived there after Festus came home from the Longbranch Saloon with much affection for his feisty wife, "Miss Kitty". When Miss Kitty went into labor, Festus kissed her good-bye, wished her well, and being married to his job, as usual left with his brown bag lunch at precisely 4:00 AM and headed for the mine. Old Doc heard the proposed name at 3:42 that afternoon after smacking my cousin's rump and suggested instead Matt Dillon, which was his name. And that's how my cousin ended up with the name Dodge Dillon Ford.

At a table nearby Old Doc and Festus shared a bottle of Sasparilla. Kitty made an indiscrete proposal to the Sheriff, but he turned her down, stating that he was on duty. "That man is married to his job." sighed the frustrated Kitty.
