I live in the south. Anyone have an idea (per square) what it would cost to: Rip off one single layer of asphault shingles, one layer of wood shingles, re-deck with plywood, and re-roof with asphault?

see what you can buy the materials for & get a labor bid from a roof monkey from a nearby new construction neighborhood....

if you have a chance ask the superintendent what he pays $/sq ft for labor.... & ask the contractor approx how many squares of shingles to order! You can deduce the plywood ( 32 sq ft each )!

Are you doing it or are you paying to have it done?

Roofers will come out and give you a free estimate.

As a do it yourself, it depends upon what quality of re-roof you use. Don't use that cheap crappy 3 tab, get at least the cheapest dimensional composition shingle. But with that said. It would be my wild guess, $150 to $300. Max..

Twice that to have it done.
