I understand how the division sports work, but in intercollegiate sports or club sports do you still compete against other schools? What is the time commitment for each? is there any scholarship money available?

Club sports are not part of the collegiate system and are played either in schools that don't carry that sport (tennis at a school that does not have a tennis team) or in sports that aren't part of the NCAA - ex. Ultimate Frisbee.

In club sports you play other teams sometimes in a league or just in exhibitions. In most cases the clubs teams themselves organize the league.

intercollegiate is just another name for colleges playing each other so that is the same as div I, II, III etc. The other type you might be talking about is intramural which is sports played amongst teams in the same college. These could be different dorms, frats or other groups putting together a team for a on campus league. example here would be intramural softball or basketball leagues.

For club and intramural there are no scholarships (there are also no sports scholarships in div III.)
