And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

One long sentence from Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. The lyrics and poetry of the song are aesthetically pleasing by themselves without being about a typically beautiful subject. Paul Simon in my opinion wrote some of the most beautiful and poetic lyrics ever.

Good question, by the way - but very difficult

We go a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
That's walking around with me
And then she asks me
Do you feel alright
And I say yes, I feel wonderful tonight
Sorry it's not 1 sentence but I get goosebumps every time I hear this song and these particular lyrics

this isnt the most beautiful song lyirc ever (in my opinion) but for me it is very meaningful

"... So I won't give up, no I won't break down, sooner than it seems life turns around, and I will be strong even if it all goes wrong, when I'm standin' in the dark I still believe, Some one's watching over me..."

Whiter Shade of Pale: Procol Harum: unable to pick any one line. The whole song is brilliant

If you must have one sentence from a song my favourite must be

"You are the Wind beneath my Wings"

"Excuse me but can i be you for a while?" from Silent all these years by Tori Amos. You'd have to listen to the whole song to understand this lyric. One of the most moving songs i've ever heard in my life. Too much for me to listen to anymore.

My apologies for going back to my old favourites,Spandau Ballet-but I do really love this lyric.

We're mortals on the earth
But Gods up in the sky
I haven't got a clue
I haven't got a thing
But what I give to you
Is all that I can bring

I would rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the Saints, because the sinners are much more fun, and only the good die young"
