Ok, last night me and my husband watched "An American Haunting" ... I understand that the girl was molested by her father, but why would "the entinity" hurt the little girl.... why didn't the entinity just go after the father (since he was the one that hurt her in the first place) I am confused about that part.

I watched the movie when it first came out and I thought it was terrible.

I believe they were trying to go for a "shocking twist" ending but failed. If you want to look at it from a psychological point of view, one might suggest that many victims of sexual abuse tend to blame themselves for it...and that's what the "entitity" was doing.

In my opinion, it was just a bad movie...

b/c she block it out of her mind so the entinity made her remember and her mother knew about it also so the entinity made her remember also and the girl killed her dad for what he did.and the night he raped her the entinity was born.hope this helps.

The entity was created by the girl due to the stress and shock of what her father did to her.Esentially, she was hurting herself due to the shame of what happened and as a way to get revenge on her father.

I think the entity was a part of her and she was punishing herself for what happened (most children do blame themselves for things they shouldn't)... and she couldn't exactly remember the incident (blocked it out).. that's why the entity was telling her to "remember" and once she did, is when she killed her father and it all stopped. About that same time mom started figuring out what happened too.

The 'ghost' was making her re-live the trama that she had endured to make her remember what had happened to her when her father raped her. Her mind had repressed the memory for obvious reasons.
Sometimes the only way for a mind to retrieve a repressed memory is to re-experience it.

The "ghost" was the girls subconsious. Basically, she was re-living the ordeal her father put her through.
