Is there a way to read Gmail mail inside Google Reader?

I'd like to view my gmail mail inside the Google Reader RSS feed reader. When I'm in my Gmail account Firefox thinks it sees and RSS feed, but when I try to subscribe there are zero items in the list.
Any else have any ideas?

It says there are zero items probably because there are no new messages. I read my gmail inbox with RSS and it only shows it as having new things to read if I get new mail.
