In this case sketch is just a figure of speech, mean to imply that she wants a brief recap of the persons life and achievements, not a full-scale biography.

The analogy is that a sketch represents something visual, but with less detail than, say, an oil painting or a photograph.

Biography = story of her life, so biographical means about her life events.

Bibliography would be something else entirely - a list of books she wrote, or a list of books that you used to do your research.

Sketch in this case does not mean a drawing. It means words. The assignment is short - only two pages - so the 'sketch' part of it is that you are not trying to be complete or get all the facts in, you are just giving a summary. (This is like an artist sketching out the outlines of a painting or drawing by just doing enough to show how it might look. So you are just writing out a short piece, not a book length article.)

So forget that the teacher used the word "sketch" at all. It doesn't help you. It really means the same as writing a two page paper.

No pictures, just words.

She was born on this date at this place. Her family included her mother who did this and her father who did that and the other people in her family who were how old.

She was educated here and then here, and studied this and that. She got involved doing this and that, and she is very well known because of these specific things she did. Life is different now because if she had not done these things, then we would still have to do this and that, and people would still do bad things like this and that to people like me.

Hope this all helps!

A biographical sketch is a mini-biography (and has nothing to do with pictures). A full biography would be a book. You just want to hit the highlights of her life - where and when she lived, and any info about her life that is especially important to what she did that made her important. For example, if your person was a politician, you might include that she was class president in high school, but the fact that she grew up with 12 cats might not be important so you could leave that out.

it says biographical sketh not bibliographal. A sketch is not neccessarily a drawing. What she wants is a 2 page paper about the woman you have most likely been learning about. Telling where and when she was born etc..

A biography is the story of someone's life. Let's say " she " is the rock star Gwen Stefani. You would write why Gwen is known, where was she born, why she is famous, etc.... dude, this is really a very easy assignment. two pages isn't much. All you have to do is go online and type in your person's name. You'll get enough information for a hundred pages.

Well, there's nothing like learning to find these things out... that's what education is all about.
So, remember, the word that's used is biography (not bibliography), so go look that up.
When you have that, you'll see what facts will be most important.
Remember, this is not about the person, this is about what the person did for society.
Hope that gets you there!

Sounds to me that your teacher wants you to do a bio; the word sketch in this usage is a "word" picture of the subject and her background.
