Yes i think its very dumb, do we get a native american day off, no. I thinks its a stupid waste of time. Kids dont care about it and most adults dont care. They both just want a reason to be at home Martin Luther King Jr dosent need a day off, he isnt a holiday he is a simple person that walked the streets

As it is now, yes. People have forgotten that the REVEREND DOCTOR Martin Luther King, Jr. was a CHRISTIAN theologin with a doctorate in theology and Christian studies.

His message has been watered down, made "politically correct" and things are being said and done in his name that he never would have approved of.

Like the MLK Day assembly at a local highschool where a radical Chicano leader spoke in FAVOR of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Huh? Not even Ceasar Chavez, a radical Chicano approved of illegal immigration. And what does THAT have to do with MLK's deep Christian beilefs anyway?

The Reverend MLK has been forgotten and this cartoon cutout figure has taken his place and has become a very PC secular figurehead.

Only if the USA celebrates him as the CHRISTIAN leader he was, then the holiday will be meaningful.

I don't think it is a stupid holiday, but I don't think that many who have the privlege to be off really take a moment to think why. They just enjoy having the day off, a "free" day have you, but it is supposed to be a "Day of Service".

When I did my undergrad, you could take the day off if you were doing volunteer work; that was all.

Most companies don't recognize it as a holiday though.

DUMB AS HELL>>> I am Native American and we aren't complaining we don't have a holiday and if anyone should have had one it is the Native Americans ..Oh wait they killed us off ...didn't even give us a chance to slave, just killed everyone! But Black people are always complaining about something ...Example Black lives matter...Act human and decent and then you won't have to cry about someone mouthing off to a cop and getting shot..have that thing called RESPECT and DECENCY and they won't treat you like the animal you acting like!!! It is always Poor Us Black people wahh wahh.. but we F everything up we touch from a dollar to the cities we live in. Go tell that Sht to a dumb *** millennials...not someone who was alive when MLK was here! He didn't free slaves..Oh wait that was a white man Ahh yes Good ole Abraham Lincoln, But he was also killed. Oh what did MLK do..oh yeh same Sht Black lives matter is doing ..crying about something there is no need to cry about! *******!

Not as stupid as Memorial Day, presidents Day, Easter and Thanksgiving Day. At least it can be associated with some advances that have been made, eg giving all the full vote and banning white-only bus seating.

Yes, but not because I'm racist. MLK was not a very moral man. He was a philanderer, adulterer, embezzler, and exploiter. His public persona was important, and he certainly said some great things, but if you want more of a total package, we should be celebrating Malcolm X Day, but he was never palatable to white Americans. It's a shame. Malcolm was FAR more important in terms of American and World history.
