Most have them around the 7th or 8th month. Some people opt to have it after the baby is born so that the baby can attend. If you are going to have multiple showers then you could have one of them after the baby if you preferred. I had one before and one after when I had my children.

On my side of the family, we have showers around 7-8 months. However on my husbands side, they wait until after the baby is born and have it a couple of weeks later so that they know what the sex is and can buy FOR the baby personally. It's up to you really. I didnt ask anyone to host my shower, but my friend jumped in and volunteered. If your in laws want dibs they should mention it. I would simply say that so and so offered to have the shower for you, and see what their reaction is. This friend who volunteered may also invite different people than your mom or mother in law would. My mom had me one, and so did my friends. Good luck

I am sure your mom or you mom-in-law maybe already in the planning stage of a shower for you & baby- maybe it is going to be surprise shower! Wouldn't that be sweet! But I would say by the 5th month would be about right- then you have enough time to still figure out what you may need, but hopefully after the shower you won't need a thing! Good luck and let us know what you have!

It truly depends on your situation. Baby showers AREN'T just about getting gifts....they are about people CELEBRATING BABY!! If you have family and friends scattered about....I would say any time after three months would be fine!! If people want to throw the shower for you....let them, because they love you and your child and they want to express that love through the shower!!
Make sure to encourage SENTIMENTAL activities!! It seems like the showers are getting sillier and sillier....and I think sentimental activities at the shower are more poignant and touching and make for a sweeter memory.
I just updated my website with a page dedicated to SENTIMENTAL shower activities, check it out if you like!!
Good luck and god bless!

Usually around 7 months along so you know what you have and what you still need to get. It's better a little earlier instead of waiting too long. You will probably want the babies room ready before you go into labor.

I would wait until after your fifth. You can have complications early in pregnancy, and you don't want anything going on that causes stress. In all of my experience, the person volunteers to give you the shower.

You should just put them all in touch with each other and let them work it out. It's crass to have any part in an event whose purpose is just to give you presents. Hands-off is best. You're just supposed to sit back and get showered!

Well usually any where after 7 mths. but I wouldn't wait past your 8th. because you wonna be able to have time to get your things put all away and ready.
