Because baseball is a thinking man's sport, not a slobbering drunk pervo sport. Baseball has fans that go to the ballyard to watch the game. You will see people actually keeping score. In football (which I love, too), more people come to yell and scream, see the rah-rah chicks, get drunk at the tailgate, and keep it going through the game. With as much movement as there is on the field, being at the stadium you miss a lot. With baseball - you see the subtle shift in the defense as the batter moves his feet in the box. Basketball is more of an event to be seen at. It's more of a who's who event - a social gathering, where people chat, talk on their cell phones, and watch the rah-rahs dance around the floor. Baseball has intelligent fans, that's why they don't need cheer squads. And yes, there are idiots at baseball games too, but they are generally asked to leave (moreso than at other events). I will not address hockey or soccer fans, but I don't remember seeing rah-rah chicks at those events (or swim meets, track meets, lacrosse, polo). As a matter of fact, other than football and basketball, who else has cheerleaders?

Having cheerleaders at a baseball game would be such a lack of sophistication it would be almost criminal. Baseball is as intellectual a game as there is on this planet. True baseball fans are ALWAYS mentally into each game. There is no room for pom poms and flopping boobs while there are bases loaded, no outs, and "how in the hell is the pitcher going to get out of this one?" Leave the cheerleaders on the football field sidelines. Figure,...... who really pays a small fortune for tickets so they can go and watch the cheerleaders?

When would they use cheerleaders. Would they have them dancing around next to the baseline where flying balls and bats could hit them? Have them dance on top of the dugouts to block the fans view of the game? Have them come out and do a cheer during the 7th inning stretch?

Baseball is the greatest game ever to be played. Why mess it up with cheerleaders?

Line drive foul balls that most likely would injure someone every game.
At some stadiums though, they do have "cheerleaders" in between innings that throw things into the crowd.

i thought that's what the drummer guys out in left field were doing at the a's games all this time? They are the best. you can't really chant silly things at a baseball game like you can in other sports. it would just look stupid, and they might get hit by an errant foul ball. or get in eric chavez' way when he's running a ball down in foul territory at the coliseum.

Because baseball is already a good sport. They don't need attracting women showing off some skin to get a crowd like all other sport.
Baseball is just that good at gathering crowds.
